NEW RIDE ON GAITED HORSES: This new ride in the wine country of northern California is a winner on many fronts. The setting itself is beautiful and romantic, just inland from the dramatic Mendocino Coast, in the midst of rolling hills, miles and miles of tidy vineyards, and live oak trees.
Your home for the week is a generous log ranch house, as spacious and inviting as the land its broad decks overlook. A skilled chef is on hand to prepare sumptuous meals featuring regional cuisine using local produce. Your mounts are Rocky Mountain Horses, an attractive breed with a smooth 4-beat gait and a willing disposition. The varied and relaxed itinerary includes visits to numerous wineries, a morning ride along the Pacific coast, a tour and ride on the ranch where Seabiscuit made his miraculous recovery, and time to explore the area's marvelous galleries and shops.

Special Harvest Itinerary with Bayard:Bayard Fox, owner of Equitours and aficionado of wine and fine dining in romantic settings (he loves Paris, and riding through Bordeaux and Chianti), is so confident this is going to be an exceptional ride that he is not waiting for the official report from Roz's scouting trip before scheduling a date himself. The special itinerary during the wine crushing time in October will include a tour of the "crush pad" at one of the local wineries (hopefully in action), one dinner with a proper wine tasting, and local vintners joining for another dinner. With Bayard's entertaining stories from years of riding and living around the world this is sure to be a convivial occasion highlighting wine, food, and sparkling conversation.
