It was a period when art and architecture flourished and much remains of this rich cultural history, both Spanish and Moorish. This is a large country by European standards with tremendous geographic and cultural diversity, ranging from the snowcapped mountains of the Pyrenees to the sunny shores of the Mediterranean.
