It has been a favorite stamping ground for archeologists since the time of Napoleon. They have made fascinating discoveries of this vast and powerful ancient empire which produced the awesome pyramids, still in excellent shape after standing intact for millennia.
Our outfitter is a Canadian expatriate who speaks fluent Arabic and has a stable of magnificent and much loved Arabians horses to carry us around the fabulous sites of Egypt; ancient and modern. You will ride quietly along irrigation canals viewing the farmers in their fields and pass through small villages before arriving at the desert where you can have exhilarating gallops on your way to the many ancient monuments. As well as riding the trip includes a visits to many of fabulous attractions of Cairo, old and new, a boat ride in a felucca on the Nile, viewing an arts and crafts center, exploring ancient Coptic Cairo as well as the Khan El Khalili old market and museum visits. This is also a trip for non riders who can find much of interest to do while riders are on horseback. Extensions like Nile cruises around Luxor, train rides to Alexandria, trips to Red Sea resorts and visits to the National Arabian Stud are easy to arrange.
