Horseback riding traditions in Great Britain are very strong today. There are probably far more horse riders in Great Britain per capita than there are in the United States despite the heavy population density.
Unlike many parts of the US, rights-of-way for riders have been kept open and there is a broad selection of riding trails crisscrossing the country. The British Horse Society is very active in upholding high standards of horsemanship and horse care. They have a carefully investigated list of approved stables in Great Britain and abroad.
We are pleased that they have listed our riding facilities at the Bitterroot Ranch which is the only dude ranch approved by them for horseback riding vacations. The BHS also provides many courses in horseback riding at different levels and offers degrees to those who qualify.
