Horseback Riding in Ireland

The magical charm of the Emerald Isle makes Ireland an ideal destination for horseback riding. We have a wide variety of riding vacations from jumping to trail riding which have been well tested and proven over the years. Hundreds of our clients have enjoyed them. Few countries revere the horse as much as the Irish and horseback riding is deeply woven into the culture. The Irish usually like their American cousins anyhow, but a common love of horses adds an additional bond. Irish horses like the Connemara are world famous and much sought after.

The rural countryside with its stone walls, green fields and rolling hills is very pleasant to explore trail riding in company with a good horse. There are miles and miles of open beach which are ideal for a gallop and the horses seem to love it. Of course the rich history of the country is everywhere to be seen dating back to very early times of St. Patrick and before when Ireland saved our Western Civilization. Try to read Thomas Cahill’s wonderful book, “How the Irish Saved Civilization” before you go.

Ireland - AILLE CROSS COUNTRY TRAIL - This ride takes place in the winter months only and features a great deal of challenging jumping. Those who wish can combine it with fox hunting.

Ireland - ATLANTIC COAST TRAIL - The riding vacation offers a chance for horseback riding through mountains, valleys, and along wide open beaches in this romantic corner of Ireland. You will also visit several nearby places of interest. Overnight in a modern hotel in the heart of the lively old town of Sligo. Upgrade to one night in Markree Castle to experience the luxury of a bygone era.

Ireland - BEACHES, DUNES AND TRAILS - An unguided ride for experienced and resourceful horseback riders who can take care of their own horses and read a map.

Ireland - CASTLE LESLIE EQUESTRIAN CENTER - Castle Leslie is one of the best destinations in the world for those who want to jump and to perfect their skills. The thousand acre estate has hundreds of jumps in woodland and open fields. There is a good selection of horses well trained to jump which well help build your confidence. The Castle and the estate are one of the great show places of Ireland. It has a fascinating 300 year history associated with many of the great people of earlier times.

Ireland - COASTAL TRAIL - A fairly fast riding tour which often has many participants. A considerable part of the route is along Ireland's glorious beaches and dramatic coast line.

Ireland - CONNEMARA TRAIL - Another fast riding adventure through some lovely countryside in the interior of Ireland. Groups are often quite large. This ride and the Coastal Trail have been in operation a long time and have been popular with many.

Ireland - DINGLE PENINSULA TRAIL - You will ride out from the picturesque and lively town of Dingle on various trails and spend two nights enroute. There are some wonderful stretches of beach for fast gallops. It is a good destination for non-riders because the town has many art galleries, shops, night clubs and restaurants, and the accommodations are decidedly upscale. Dingle is one of the most attractive and popular tourist destinations in Ireland.

Ireland - DONEGAL FROM THE SADDLE - The riding trip is based in a typical coastal village in the remote northwest of Ireland. Riders stay in an attractive hotel on the sea and ride to different areas each day along the dramatic coast and into the mountains of the interior.

Ireland - WICKLOW TRAIL - Explore the beautiful Wicklow Mountains and Glens of the "Garden of Ireland" finishing in the Monastic 7th Century village of Glendalough.
