The region around the huge Torres del Paine National Park in Chile is certainly one of the world’s most scenic and beautiful areas. This impressive mountain chain erupts suddenly from sea level to nearly 10,000 feet. UNESCO has rightly named this area as a World Biosphere Reserve because of its unique natural features. It is located near the extreme southern tip of South America and Tierra del Fuego which Magellan first traversed with such tribulation in 1520. Darwin and many other travelers of note were fascinated by this region.
Visiting this beautiful area on horseback is an adventure you will not soon forget. The transformative beauty of this area and its unique natural features rival US national parks like Yellowstone and Yosemite. Due to its extremely remoteness it is not overrun with tourists like some of the world’s other most attractive locales. The topography is ideal for gallops and the horses are pleased to oblige. Riders can either camp or stay in haciendas.
The wildlife includes rhea and guanaco and there is also excellent trout fishing in the rivers. Some of the flora is unique to this part of the world and incredibly, parts of the national forests have remained virgin. Great chunks of glacier fall from time to time into the azure lakes. A tour through southern Patagonia is an exciting equestrian experience which many of our clients have found extremely worthwhile.
