Horseback Riding in Mexico RELAXED CAVALCADE RIDE |
This itinerary has been adapted from the La Sierra Cavalcade ride to allow time optional trailriding in the afternoon as well as non-riding activities such as walking around town, shopping at local markets, visiting the spa for a massage. Or try one of the many recreational opportunities: mountain biking, swimming, sailing, kayaking, golfing or hangliding. After an active day, retire to the outfitters gracious hacienda for the evening to relax and to enjoy the delicious Mexican cuisine.

| Day 1: | Plan to arrive in Mexico City either the day before the start of the ride Saturday) or before 12:00 PM to be ready for the afternoon pickup on Sunday.
Meet in the lobby of the Hotel Marriott Reforma at 5PM for the 2 ˝ hours drive to Valle de Bravo, passing near El Nevado, a snowcapped volcano that stands high above the rolling hills. Meet the hosts, Pepe and Lucia at Finca Enyhe, their beautiful home with lovely gardens, riding ring and scenic view of Valle de Bravo. After arrival at the finca register and settle into your room. Dinners will be served each evening at 7:30PM. Afterwards Pepe and Lucia will brief you about what to expect for the following week. |
| Day 2: | Finca Enyhe – El Castellano Breakfast each day will be at 8:30AM. After careful selection of mounts and tack familiarize yourself with your horse in the outdoor ring. Begin the 3 hour ride to El Castellano riding out of town on a very quiet cobble street and on trails through forests and agricultural valleys. Return to Finca Enyhe for lunch served outside on the terrace at 1:30 PM. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the finca. You can also try your hand at a “Salsa” dancing lesson offered in the town of Valle de Bravo. If you prefer enjoy a 2 hour late afternoon ride. |
| Day 3: | Finca Enyhe – Rancho Santa Rosa Be ready to ride at 9:30AM to begin the 3 hour ride to “Rancho Santa Rosa”, one of the most beautiful and largest ranch properties in the area. Ride by the numerous horse paddocks with mares and foals or catch a glimpse of the training of jumping horses. Back at the finca enjoy another wonderful lunch served outside. In the afternoon, explore the colonial town of Valle de Bravo or enjoy an invigorating massage in the privacy of your bedroom (at your own expense). A two hour afternoon ride is also available. |
| Day 4: | Explore the surrounding forests, farmlands, meadows and valleys of Valle de Bravo on another 3 hour ride. Lunch is served back at the finca at 1:30 PM. In the afternoon enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or any of the other activities offered in town. |
| Day 5: | Mount up at 9:30 AM for another ride around the scenic area of Valle de Bravo. Lunch back on the finca’s beautiful terrace. In the late afternoon enjoy a boat trip around the lake. You will be able to see “La Pena”, a historic note where the Aztecs came to make human sacrifices. Return to Finca Enyhe in time for dinner. |
| Day 6: | Enjoy one last ride through the surrounding area and marvel at the different microclimates you have ridden through during the week. Return to the finca for a sumptuous lunch. If you are advanterous try a tandem flight in a parapent. Enjoy the farewell dinner in a restaurant in town (at your own expense). |
| Day 7: | Meet at 8:00AM for breakfast, a half hour earlier than usual. Begin the drive back to Mexico City to be at the International Airport by 12:00 noon. |
| Day 8: | Note: On Wednesday through Friday the routes will be selected according to the riding level of the riders and the time of year.
Additional 2 hour afternoon rides can be arranged directly with Lucia and Pepe once in Mexico and are included in the cost. These rides take place in Monte Alto, a state park and ecological reserve that is right behind Finca Enyhe. |
