Horseback Riding in France
LIMOUSIN TRAIL

This ride takes place in a beautiful region of France known for its truffles and fois-gras, traversed by the picturesque Dordogne River. Tiny farms, traditional hamlets, geese in the streets and small village hotels offer riders a view of rural life that has all but disappeared. Ride on centuries old tracks through a countryside of gentle hills, forests and meadows.

Itinerary
Day 1:Arrive in Brive at 6:00 pm and transfer to the center. Explore your surroundings and later have dinner with your fellow riders around the dining table.
Day 2:Breakfast at 9 o'clock. The first half hour has been set aside for becoming acquainted with ‘your’ horse -the feeding, grooming, picking hooves etc. Then mount up for a 2 ˝ hour ride in the beautiful surroundings. Return to the center for lunch after which you can have a swim in the pool, play tennis or squash, or just relax. The luggage you need for the trail will be transported from place to place from tomorrow onward.
Day 3:Depart the center and ride through the fields and forests towards the Maison des Chanoines in Turenne. Overnight in a wonderful manor house in the middle of Turenne where a delicious homemade dinner will be prepared for you. The horses will stay in a field at the bottom of the hill.
Day 4:A long days ride though the fields and charming picturesque villages towards the Dodogne River. Cross the river at Carennac to reach your hotel, and possibly take a refreshing swim before dinner. Carennac is a lovely old village with a 12th century Romanesque church. (7 hours)
Day 5:In the morning the horses have a rest and while you visit Carennac or swim and rest. With lunch in your saddle bags, ride on, climbing over several mountains to reach Martel, which is a very old town. The hotel is a beautifully renovated old house, with swimming pool and horses in the field next to it. If it is not possible to stay here, then you will be in nearby Meyronne. This old village is situated on the edge of the Dordogne River. (4-5 hours)
Day 6:Ride over picturesque hills to the center with the afternoon free to relax or swim. Dinner and overnight at the center. (4 hours)
Day 7:In the morning you have a half day ride to the lovely old village of Nadaillac. Lunch back at Les Garennes and the afternoon is at your leisure. The farewell dinner will be a typical meal of the Perigord region with the best wines of the region.
Day 8:Departure after breakfast.
